Growth Capital, in collaboration with Madrid Innovation Lab, hosted today the DeepTech Talk in Madrid, an event dedicated to exploring the trends shaping DeepTech investment in Spain and across Europe.

The session brought together investors, institutions, and founders to discuss one of the most relevant areas in European venture capital today. As DeepTech continues to gain traction, the event provided an opportunity to examine both the data behind the trend and the opportunities that are emerging.

The agenda included a presentation of insights from Growth Capital’s latest DeepTech report, which provides a data-driven deep dive into the sector across both Europe and Spain. Among the key takeaways:

  • DeepTech now accounts for over a quarter of total VC investment in Europe, nearly doubling its share from 14% in 2021 to 27% today
  • Investment remains resilient despite a decline in deal count, with capital levels holding up even as overall VC activity slows
  • Larger rounds are becoming more prominent, with €100M+ transactions increasing in frequency, particularly in 2025 and early 2026
  • Spain recorded €465M in DeepTech investment across 27 rounds (FY-25 & Q1-26), with activity concentrated in later stages and influenced by a small number of large deals
  • International investors play a key role in Spain, participating in roughly half of all rounds but accounting for around three-quarters of total capital invested

The panel discussion was moderated by Alejandro González-Salamanca Pérez (Open Innovation & Investor Relations at ICEX) and featured Nicolas Chaudron (COO at Mundi Ventures), Krystal Somaza (Senior Associate at Adara Ventures), and Lucía Iñigo-Paarmann (Spanish National Contact Point at CDTI Innovación). Closing remarks were delivered by Angel Niño (Councilor of Ayuntamiento de Madrid).

The event also included a pitch session with selected DeepTech startups, Robopedics, Calpech, NomadTech, Ienai Space, Mapsi Photonics, and XRExperience, offering founders the opportunity to present their companies to an audience of active investors and ecosystem stakeholders, followed by a networking session.

DeepTech Talk reflects Growth Capital’s continued focus on supporting innovative companies in the most relevant sectors of the moment, having recently advised on several DeepTech fundraising transactions including Dronus (€15M), Caracol ($40M), and Blubrake (€14M).
